Philadelphia Independent Film Festival #19 Prepares for a Global Celebration of Film and Innovation during the citywide 250 year celebration.
As we build momentum toward Festival #19, taking place May 5–8, 2026, the Philadelphia Independent Film Festival is hard at work behind the scenes—curating, coordinating, and preparing for what promises to be one of our most dynamic showcases yet. This year, we are proud to present 62 films spanning genres, voices, and perspectives from around the world. The Underground Film Forum #UFF has placed special emphasis on stories and time, with a globally sourced Animation and VR/AI series that explores the evolving language of storytelling through emerging technologies. From intimate narratives to boundary-pushing experimental works, the slate reflects our commitment to championing independent cinema in all its forms.
Preparations are well underway at the Philadelphia Ethical Society, our primary venue, where we are transforming the space into a welcoming hub for filmmakers, audiences, and creatives alike. Located on Rittenhouse Square, this year’s festival coincides with the city-wide celebration of America’s 250th anniversary and Philly Tech Week, adding an extra layer of energy and significance to the event. We’re thrilled to be part of this historic moment in Philadelphia, bringing together local and global voices in a shared celebration of discovering independent film.
